Remembering to shop local when possible is something I try to stay very mindful of. It’s important to me that small, local businesses get the opportunity to grow & thrive. Our favourite small shops/businesses need our support more than ever this year! In October, when I asked on my stories about creating gift guides for the Holidays this year, you made it clear that you also value local! So enter, the ultimate 2020 Local Holiday Gift Guide.
Here are some of the small businesses I have hand selected from the recommendations you sent me back in October. I tried to include a variety of small, local businesses for varying budgets & personal preferences!
THE ALTERNATIVE
This little shop is located close to home for me – in Regina, Saskatchewan. The Alternative sources a wide variety of products (health & beauty, household, etc) that are handmade right here in SK! How amazing is that!? There’s a little something for everyone at the Alternative. I’ve already decided that this adorable Holiday Wood Sign and this Beaded Garland needs to come with me to complete my livingroom Holiday decor. Check out their Canadian Made Gifts tab, for a wide variety of gift options while you’re shopping for Christmas this year – you won’t be disappointed!

SWEET THREE DESIGNS
This little jewelry shop is owned & operated by a mama of 3 little girls. Sweet Three Designs pieces she creates are inspired by the small town she lives in – Sedgewick, Alberta. One of you recommended I check out her shop in particular for the Paintable Earring Kits! I am definitely going to be ordering one of these kits for Violet once she gets her ears pierced. Violet loves crafts and is the biggest girly girl – she will be over the moon excited with this gift! The jewelry under the tab Elegance Earrings are absolutely stunning and the perfect link to subtly text to your hubby…STAT. lol

LITTLE & LIVELY
So many of you recommended I check this shop out – so of course I included them in this year’s local gift guide!! Little & Lively sells high-quality locally sourced garments for children, men, and women. They really are a one-stop shop if you’re looking to gift handmade clothing this season. I have my eye on matching lounge sets found under the Holiday Collection tab of their site. How frickin cute would it be for the fam to all be wearing coordinating Little & Lively pieces Christmas morning?! I’m in love.

SAJE WELLNESS
This is a Canadian company that many of you may have already heard of! Saje is a well known local, Canadian business that put using essentials oils for wellness on the market. They offer a wide variety of wellness products such as diffusers, essential oils, skin care items as well as body products. There is a Holiday Gift Guide tab on their site to help you sort through their products and help you select something for everyone on your Christmas list this year! Dav, if you’re listening – I NEED the Aroma Rise Cascade Diffuser in my life. LOL

CHEEKBONE
I recently discovered this Indigenous-owned & founded Canadian cosmetics company! I am so impressed by the quality standard of Cheekbone makeup as well as the way she chooses to run her business. Cheek Bone Beauty offers cruelty-free beauty products and is known for giving back to the community. Their “Your Brows” Eyebrow Gel is at the very top of my own wishlist this year! While you’re browsing, check out their Gift Ideas tab to grab some makeup for your besties!

COAL AND CANARY
Who doesn’t love candles?! Legit – a candle is one of my absolute favourite type of gift to give/receive! Coal and Canary is a candle company based out of Manitoba that offers both retail and wholesale options. In fact, The Alternative (the first local shop mentioned in this post!) sells some Coal and Canary candles! They have a wide variety of scents in varying sizes – you’re sure to find a candle for anyone here! I’m usually a sucker for anything that has hints of coconut or vanilla, but also love the sounds of some of their Holiday scents such as “All I Want Fir Xmas” and “Pa Rum Pum Pum Pum“

THE BARE HOME
This mama-ran Canadian company started as a passion project and has evolved into a successful business! The Bare Home sells cleaning products that are effective & clean for the environment. That means all of their products are biodegradable, phosphate free, and dye free – how awesome is that?! I’m eyeing up the hand soaps for both my MIL and bestie – they would love it! Go and check out the “Kits” tab on their site if you are interested in purchasing items in a bundle to save some $. Guess what all the ladies in my family will be getting in their stockings this year! 😉

I hope this list has helped you cross some things off your Christmas list as well as inspired you to be mindful about shopping local when you can this season and going forward into 2021!
