If you know me, you’ll know I don’t particularly enjoy wearing pants. That sounds inappropriate lol buuut all I mean is that I find pants really restricting most of the time. I prefer the flowy, feminine vibes a skirt or dress provide. Leaves you more room for that extra scoop of mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving or one more chocolate square during Christmas… ya know? The trouble is – it gets SO cold here in SK over the fall & winter, that lots of us put our dresses away in late September! I’m no quitter though, so I came up with a few style tips and tricks to help us all continue to wear our favorite midi or maxi dresses into the winter season!

Layer, layer layer. Whether you are wearing a jacket over top, knotting a sweater in the front, or throwing on a turtle neck underneath your midi dress – layers are imperative to helping you stay warm while wearing a dress this time of year! Layers also give you the opportunity to style your dress in a way you never have before. It’ll feel like you have a brand new outfit on – a much warmer new outfit.

Fleece Leggings. I’ll tell you a little secret – I often have on fleece leggings underneath my dresses in winter! As long as you ensure the leggings are pulled up higher than where your dress falls on you, no one will ever know! Well.. aside from you & I and anyone else you share this sneaky tip with!
Proper Footwear. Ankle boots, sock booties, mules, and even over the knee boots can work with most dresses! The proper footwear will completely change the look of your outfit and will keep your toes nice & warm.

So next time you are pondering what to wear to an event this winter, don’t dismiss the possibilities of pulling out your favorite dress! Some of the best outfits come from finding creative, new ways to wear pieces already sitting in your closet.
