How To: Canadian Tuxedo Style
Ahhh.. the good ol Canadian Tuxedo. Aka, denim on denim. This style became popular in the 50’s and still makes appearances to this day! To be honest, I’m not usually into pairing denim with denim. Some people can pull it off effortlessly and look so badass. I however, often find it looks too.. matchy matchy on me. But my oversized denim jacket compelled me to give this famous style a go!
I love this jacket. It is such a great medium wash, and just the right amount of oversizedness (I realize that’s not a real word.. but I’m ok with it. This is my blog – So I can make up words if I want to! lol) It literally works with everything in my closet, and I often reach for it first if I’m trying to dress down an outfit. My jacket was the perfect starting point to creating a Canadian Tuxedo.
I chose the denim jeans I’m wearing in this outfit for a few reasons: they are super high waisted and one of my most flattering jeans, their wash pairs well with the wash of my jacket, and they are skinny jeans (which I needed to balance out the oversized shape I had chose for my top half).
Throw in a neutral blouse underneath (this one’s neutral, but definitely not basic! I’m obsessed with it), a statement accessory, and some neutral boots or kicks and there you have it!
The formula for your very own Canadian Tuxedo.
Have you tried out this famous style before?!
