Fall Fashion 2017: My Top 5 Must-Haves
Fall is by far my favourite season of the year! The milder (but not freezing) temps, the gorgeous colours of the leaves changing, the beginning (and also the end) of harvest, and my personal favourite reason: fall fashion. I can never get enough of all the sweaters, scarves, boots… there are so many fab items to include in your fall wardrobe! Which is why I wanted to compile a list of my top 5 fall item must-haves for you. Let’s get to it!
Ankle Boots
I’m such a fan of booties! I love how you can easily style them with skinny jeans, tights, or dresses. I also like them because they look proportionate to pretty much any body type/height. My favourite time to wear booties is in the fall – before the snow falls! There are so many great styles of ankle boots out there. My recommendation (if you’re only going to be getting one pair) is to buy booties that are neutral in colour (blacks, browns, greys) and invest in a pair that is good quality!
Layering Sweaters
Oversized sweaters is a big trend this year. My favourite ways to wear oversized sweaters is slightly tucked in to the front of my favourite jeans, or layered over top of a collared shirt like I’m wearing in the picture! Any trend that allows me to hide the copious amounts of turkey & mashed potatoes I plan to consume at Thanksgiving is OK by me!
Vests
I personally have been on the vest train for awhile now. I own three and have to constantly convince myself I probably don’t need any more! If you haven’t tried out this trend yet, don’t worry there’s still time! Puffer, utility, fur, long – they’re all fantastic! I think this trend continues to be popular because they look so flattering and are practical for when the weather gets cooler. My go-to style in the fall is leggings, a long plaid shirt, a vest, and rain boots.
Long Cardigans
Similar to vests, cardigans are another seasonal favourite of mine due to the flattering shape they give all body types! Long cardigans in particular are on trend this year. You can wear them over top of your favourite dress to combat the cold, but my favourite way to wear a long cardigan is with a simple top, skinny jeans, and booties for a casual yet chic outfit!
Structured Blazers
I hope these never go out of style. I wouldn’t say they are worn particularly just in fall, but that is my favourite time to wear a structured blazer. Often I find the summer months to be too hot for blazers and though I also wear them in the winter, they can get uncomfortable and warm underneath a heavy winter jacket! You honestly cannot go wrong with a high quality structured blazer. This is definitely an item to have in your fall closet – especially if your lifestyle requires business appropriate attire.
